OFFICIAL VISIT OF MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE
KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS TO INDONESIA
4-6 FEBRUARY 2005

 

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Dr. Bernard Rudolf Bot and his entourages will visit Indonesia, on 4-6 February 2005. During the visit, Minister Bot will pay a courtesy call to the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Vice President. Minister Bot who was born in Jakarta on 21 November 1937 will have a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on 5 February 2005.

Minister Bot and his entourages will also visit Aceh on 6 February 2005.

This visit is the third visit to Indonesia since Dr. Bot was appointed as Foreign Minister. Minister Bot is expected to discuss concrete efforts to promote and intensify bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands. In addition, he will also discussed related issues to the Tsunami aftermath in Aceh. Both Ministers are expected to discuss methods and ways on how to effectively implement Netherlands’ aid for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Aceh. The Netherlands’ aid to Indonesia has so far reached US$ 22.825.000. More over, the Netherlands has also pledge grant to build bridges reached the amount of Euro 7.5 millions, medical equipments, mobile hospitals, reconstruction of clean water facilities and sanitation system.

The Netherlands is one of Indonesia’s main trade partners. Total Indonesian non-oil export to the Netherlands in January-September 2004 reached US$ 1,124.23 millions, an increase of 22.39% from previous year. Indonesia enjoys trade surplus of US$ 829.63 millions, increasing 21.80%. The approved Netherlands investment in Indonesia in January-October 2004 is US $ 91.9 millions (20 projects). In 2003 the approved Netherlands’ investment was around US$ 100 millions (26 projects).
