APSOP Visit the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia

Students from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and Colegio de San Juan de Letran belonging to the Association of Political Science Organization of the Philippines (APSOP) visited the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia on 21 November 2008. The group was welcomed at the Nusantara Hall by embassy official headed by Mr. Zaenal Arifin, Minister Counsellor for Social and Cultural Affairs and Economic Affairs; Mr. Andhika Bambang Supeno, Minister Counsellor for Political Affairs; Mr. Andreza S. Dasuki, Third Secretary, Social and Cultural Affairs; and Mr. Ferry Doringin, Staff of Education section.

As part of the program, a briefing about the country of Indonesia, its history and its culture, the political system and its foreign policy and the Educational system of the country and the scholarship it offers. An open forum followed, and the students showed keen interest in knowing more about Indonesia as proof of their question and interaction with their presenter.  Among the topic that was discussed intensively during the question and answer portion of the program was the Indonesian motto of "Bhinneka Tunggal IKa" as the student was so amazed how the Indonesian government maintain their unity despite their huge diverseness.

The student did not only experience Indonesian hospitality but also enjoyed authentic Indonesian food as the embassy prepare "lemper" and "martabak manis" for snack.
