BATIK AND CUISINE:Heritage of
Indonesia
16-30 April 2008
The Embassy of the Republic of
Indonesia - Manila in cooperation
with The Heritage Hotel Manila
concocted a great deal of adventure
to satisfy both your gastronomic and
vogue pleasure. Dubbed as “Batik and
Cuisine: Heritage of Indonesia”, it
promises everyone an authentic taste
of Indonesian cuisine and a
world-class Batik exhibition.
To jump-start the much-talked about
event, a Fashion Show and Batik
Seminar were held recently at the
Ballroom of The Heritage Hotel
Manila and they were a huge success.
Mr. Adjie Notonegoro, Indonesian
premiere fashion designer, displayed
his 2008 collection of contemporary
“kebaya” (Indonesia’s
national dress worn by women when
attending formal occasions) and
evening gowns that featured one of
Indonesia’s most renowned national
heritage: the Batik. Eight
supermodels from Indonesia arrived
to grace the show. The event was
attended by some of Manila’s finest
elites and well-known personalities
from the diplomatic community,
fashion industry and business
circle.
A seminar on Batik was also
conducted by Mr. Adjie Notonegoro,
which only aimed to promote
Indonesia’s heritage but to educate
the world of the beauty, creativity
and value of batik as an art form
and respect its craftsmanship.
An on-going Food Promotion of rich
Indonesian flavors that you can
still savor at the Café Riviera of
The Heritage Hotel Manila until 30
April 2008. Two Indonesian master
chefs will have to make sure that
your lunch/ dinner will be served
with much gusto as they present not
only their country’s cuisine but its
history as well.
